Covers
Covers are important to anyone who cares about their possessions and wants to prolong the life of the equipment. Cars that are stored without covers often suffer eventual damage over time that cannot be reversed, cleaned or fixed. Even with regular cleaning and dent repair, stains and marks on a vehicle’s body will over time cause lasting damage to the paintwork. This not only marks the paint, it can also reduce the value of the vehicle for those who will later want to sell it. This is also the case for motorcycles, boats and RVs.
Covers do not just prevent damage to vehicles. They keep items hidden out of sight and also stop rain and sunlight from seeping in. Some lawnmowers and scooters are too big to keep in the home or garage, and too expensive to risk leaving out in bad weather. This is why covering them with UV and waterproof covers helps to keep them in top condition for the next time they will be used.
Anything that will be exposed to the outdoor air and has moving parts should be covered in the garden. Rain water is known to oxidize metals and make them rust, and it can also short circuit electronics and cause mildew and mold on soft furnishings. Letting rainwater sit can also cause bacteria to breed which will create a smell that is hard to get rid of. Covering things like bikes, lawnmowers and boats will take only a few minutes but can save hours of scrubbing and cleaning after the rain has fallen. It can even save money that would otherwise be spent on repairs. The same can be said for lawn furniture, especially if there are non-removable soft textiles on them as these will be hard to clean if they become stained or smelly from rainfall.
